Ah, figuring out what is causing a problem is so satisfying. I've been in my new house for 13 months now. I still don't have all of my curtains hung. The ones I did hang were the biggest chore I've ever had with anything ever in the history of my decorating a home. I thought it was the drywall. I bought better drywall anchors after the first set of curtains fell. I had to patch almost every hole in some way or another, but I got the dang things up there. So far they've stayed, but the money I tried to save by buying economy rods has resulted in them sitting wherever they land after I open or close the curtains. I don't hang curtains very often, I forgot about set screws. I don't know if I ever really understood the point of those annoying little things until I couldn't figure out why my curtain rods didn't stay where I wanted them. Lesson learned on economy rods!

Months later, the non-essential rooms still don't have their curtains hung properly. Today I decided to make an extra French Provincial dresser mirror that weighs about 40 pounds into my full length dressing room mirror by turning it sideways. It's going in my closet, it's my mirror, it's my house, I can hang it however I want, right? If anyone notices, we'll call it art. It saves me having to get rid of this extra mirror and having to find a full length one, so I win. This mirror is awkward and heavy in landscape mode, making it do portrait mode turned out to be no easy task. I have people I can call for help, but I'm just not in the mood for asking today, so I figured this out on my own. After putting five anchors in the wall, and still not trusting they'd hold, I realized these anchors are crap. I decided to go for my third set of anchors, and these babies go in like a charm every time. I wish I had bought the E-Z Ancor drywall anchors the first go round. There are lots to choose from for whatever needs doing.

Now I can hang all the things! I had just given up, dreading all the work of making one anchor go in where I needed it, then patching where it pulled out the drywall. That's painful anytime, but when your walls are new, it cuts deep.😮 I've not been home with these an hour yet, and I've hung the mirror, a clock, and two pictures. Curtains are up next!
