Ah, figuring out what is causing a problem is so satisfying. I've been in my new house for 13 months now. I still don't have all of my curtains hung. The ones I did hang were the biggest chore I've ever had with anything ever in the history of my decorating a home. I thought it was the drywall. I bought better drywall anchors after the first set of curtains fell. I had to patch almost every hole in some way or another, but I got the dang things up there. So far they've stayed, but the money I tried to save by buying economy rods has resulted in them sitting wherever they land after I open or close the curtains. I don't hang curtains very often, I forgot about set screws. I don't know if I ever really understood the point of those annoying little things until I couldn't figure out why my curtain rods didn't stay where I wanted them. Lesson learned on economy rods! Months later, the non-essential rooms still don't have their curtains hung properly. T...

I found this essential oil blend recipe for anxiety by Sierra Bright. Although I don't have Bergamot, Patchouli, or Roman Chamomile, I tried it with the remaining oils. I made it my own by creating a spray instead of a roll on because I'd just put on another blend for focus. I sprayed it on my neck and wrists, and before a minute had passed I settled down and breathed a relaxing sigh without even realizing it until the sigh was out. I've had a jittery feeling for a few days because of excitement about an upcoming trip and spending money right after I just paid off all of my credit cards. I started Spring cleaning today. With my ADHD, I have messes everywhere. I had a really good start last year on the KonMari method, but I started it as I moved house. It made unpacking everything nice and easy. Moving in meant new thing and new places for things. I mistakenly never really put any thought into setting up a system, so although my drawers are still organized, the rest of th...

I've been in my house for almost six months now. I built it from the ground up, designing the plans with the help of my brother. We created a fireplace mantel from a cedar tree that our cousin picked out for us from his land in the Dallas area. People say it looks like it should be in a museum. I found 2" thick, old pieces of pine wood for my kitchen shelves, and my brother made the metal brackets that hold them in place. I struggled for weeks on the wall and floor colors, and just about died when I first saw the walls and ceilings all the same color, not expecting that much blue. I chose the colors to coordinate with my granite countertops, and feared that I had chosen something that would clash instead. I was entirely unsure of my choices until the granite was installed. When it was all done, I went to my car and cried with relief because it had turned out to actually be a bit breathtaking. There were a lot of things that didn't turn out as I imagined, and I had th...

Clowns I am a cynic at heart, but I have a very positive outlook on life despite that cynical view of life. Every now and then the cynic wins out over the optimist and I have to say that there are certain events that simply drag it to the surface whether I'm naturally being cynical or not at the moment. Today, Melania Trump and her fuschia blouse called out loudly to my cynic and dragged her right up to the surface with this great explanation for the current clown craze, it's 2+2. Yes, the current presidential election and the clown craze are related if you put two and two together. News articles on Melania's blouse being a trolling move had my inner dialog rolling with one liners all about the debate between Hilary and Donald. Her outfit looks a bit clownish actually, and that's what brought me to the explanation for the clown craze. For the rest of this post I'm going to speak directly to Hillary as a public attagirl from women, but my cynic is really the one ...

I inevitably lose something when I travel. As such, I arrived home two days ago after an exciting and fun trip to Chicago for Wizard World, seeing people I never dreamed I'd see, up close and personal, getting posters and other things signed which I will treasure forever. The XFiles made my career in the 90's as a Computer Scientist so much easier because of Scully. Men were more respectful of an attractive female simply because there was a character on television who made it acceptable to be a female who had a brain in the professional world. Today I woke up with the realization that my two very prized treasures from that trip were not in my possession. I struggled for a couple of hours with where they might be, how I lost them, and what I could do to retrieve them. Having lost a 128gb SIM card with three days of vacation photos in New York just a few months ago, I was going through all of those emotions all over again. They are just possessions in one sense, but in real...
